About The Series
Purpose
The topic of science, logic and faith is vast. Other organizations have covered this in far greater detail. The dilemma is that a vast amount of information is great for those wanting a deep dive into a particular point, but it can become overwhelming for many new to the general topic. This website and podcast series is designed for those new to this area of study and has limited scope to give the listener a reasonable amount of information. The series in organized in a “start here”, “end here” format to give the listener an organized way to approach the material. Think of this series as going on a journey with a clear, well thought-out path. I hope you take that first step.
Speaker
Perry Lanaro holds a B.S. in physics and an M.B.A., both degrees from UCLA. He is a member of the high IQ societies Mensa and Intertel, and has spoken at several Mensa conventions. He works in corporate finance in the entertainment industry. The combination of his science and entertainment background allows him to understand important scientific concepts and present them in a story-telling format that non-technical people can understand. He is associated with the organization Reasons to Believe.
History
Perry started presenting an 8-part series to a diverse group of a dozen people about 10 years ago. The small group size allowed for great discussion afterwards and allowed him to refine the topics. Over the years the series was presented to more, diverse groups and the number of topics grew to around 20. This decade of experience has shown what material is most important, and how to organize it into a story easy to follow. As a podcast listener, you benefit from a decade of experience and the contributions of several people that have enriched this journey into the intersection of science, logic and faith.
Although the live talks usually used a PowerPoint presentation, these podcasts were designed knowing the listener would not be able to see any visual aids. Instead of visual aids, the talks create thought pictures that the listener can visualize to better understand the concepts.
